    Placeholder for Intervening appropriately

How easy or challenging an intervention will be will depend on the vibrancy of the meeting and the attendees: in a slow, low key session jumping in with an intervention (notice intervention, not interruption…in most cases just interrupting someone mid sentence will be seen as rude, out of order and poor etiquette…always wait for at least a breath or better still until the speaker finishes) will be relatively easy. In very structured session there may be strict rules about interventions e.g. the need to raise ‘a point of order’ and be recognised and allowed by the chair (or not). In a very lively dynamic session then you may need to be quick on the draw to get your interventions in and in these cases you will need to be sharp minded to be clear before speaking or else hasty, poorly prepared interventions will be the result.
